Please be our guest at our next meeting of SWAN:
Successful Women’s Alliance Network
Meets every Wednesday
Charlton and Groome (Map)
961 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, Va.
Meets from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Community Service: The Community Service Committee evaluates the requests of non-profits who solicit funds from the group. Donations range from $50-$250. The group prepares its recommendations and presents that data to the full group for a decision on funding. Any non-profit interested in receiving funds should submit a one-page proposal to the group. In addition to making decisions on funding, the group also identifies organizations where we can donate time, and works with the Social Planning Committee as appropriate to coordinate activites for the group.
Membership: The Membership Committee reviews and makes decisions on all applications submitted to SWAN. They work with the Treasurer to maintain a database of current members. They also provide reports to the group on membership levels and work on recruitment strategies for new members.
Programming: The Programming Committee is responsible for booking speakers for both educational talks and membership. The committee is also responsible for publicizing the SWAN’s regular meetings in local news outlets. This committee has also expanded to cover networking and professional development.
Social Planning: The Social Planning Committee helps plan special events for SWAN members including a holiday party, when appropriate, a summer picnic, etc. This group also coordinates with the Community Service group to organize events that are fun and serve a purpose. For example, in December, we had a pizza party while stuffing backpacks for the Food Bank.
